The Holy Spirit Altar Society of Mustang is the
Parish Women’s Organization. Every
woman in the parish is considered to be a member of the Altar Society, and
non-Catholic spouses of parishioners may participate.
Though all women are members, not all women choose to pay annual
dues or to actively participate in the organization.

The following lists the purposes of the Altar
Society:
-
To labor for the adornment and cleanliness of
the House of God.
-
To foster and contribute to the works of the
Lord.
-
To take care of the immediate needs of the
altar and to supply the needs of the sacristy.
-
To provide altar wine, altar breads, and
candles.
-
To unite the women of the parish as devout
persons working for the good of the parish.
-
To organize, provide, and serve bereavement
dinners to the families of deceased parishioners.
-
To provide and serve dinners, as needed, when
the Archbishop or priests are visiting our parish for special
occasions.
(From the
Constitution of the Holy Spirit Altar Society, amended and approved March
2003.)
To fulfill this purpose, the women meet monthly on
the third Sunday, September through May, at 11:30 a.m. for prayer, fellowship and a
brief business meeting. The
Altar Society is a “Small Ministerial Faith Community” and as such,
sponsors the Recitation of the Holy Rosary during the months of May and
October and all parishioners are invited.
Each year the main fund-raising effort of the
Altar Society is the annual “Craft
Show.” This event takes
place on the second Saturday of November.
Many parishioners, including the men and youth of the parish,
assist the women to guarantee the success of this important undertaking.
The Holy Spirit Altar Society of Mustang is a
member of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women
(ACCW) and works toward the annual ACCW goal identified by the
Archbishop.
Every helping hand and heart is welcome to
participate in the Altar Society: from
prayer and sharing, paying dues, working on a committee to fulfilling the
role of an officer. Each
effort given on behalf of Holy Spirit Altar Society strengthens the
organization and our parish.
To join the Altar Society, please obtain the name and number of the
current President by calling the Parish Office, 376-9435.
